SA: Unions push for wage rises in SA

Unions in South Australia will push for a $24 weekly rise in the minimum wage of $385.40.

United Trades and Labor Council state secretary CHRIS WHITE says a 4.5 per cent rise
for award wages of $28,000 will also be sought.

Mr WHITE says the buoyant economy means the rise can be afforded.

He says employers who express outrage at these reasonable claims should admit that
top executive salaries have risen by 22 per cent last year.

Mr WHITE says the UTLC plans to file applications in the South Australian Industrial
Relations Commission soon.
