NSW: Govt to work on taxi driver safety following 5th attack
The New South Wales government says it'll work with unions and the taxi industry to
improve the safety of taxi drivers .. following the fifth attack on a Sydney cabbie in
two weeks.
A spokesperson for Transport Minister JOHN WATKINS says they'll consider any proposal
.. that'll legitimately improve safety for drivers.
A 42-year-old taxi driver was allegedly punched in the head and had the keys to his
cab stolen in Maroubra early this morning .. by a man on a bicycle.
It's the latest in a spate of attacks on Sydney taxi drivers .. including the death
of YOUBERT HORMOZI .. who was beaten and left for dead on a street in Canley Heights last
month.
Two 14-year-old girls have been charged with his murder.
