Fed: Banks and retailers to front Senate inquiry

Bankers and retailers will front the Senate inquiry into planned national consumer
credit laws .. in Sydney today.

The federal government has introduced legislation which aims to replace myriad state-based
laws with a national scheme .. making consumer credit regulation consistent across the
country.

The draft laws will impose tough new standards on bankers ..retailers .. and the finance sector.
